Our favourite new furniture designs from Clerkenwell Design Week

Our teams browsed the exhibitions and showrooms in Clerkenwell to bring you the latest furniture launches from our brands.

Our favourite new furniture designs from Clerkenwell Design Week

We hit the roads and alleyways of Clerkenwell, excited to get to see so many new designs up close. Here are some of our favourite finds, including compact shelving, classic pieces in new materials and a selection of new upholstery collections with gentle curves.

Fiber Conference Chair by Muuto

Fiber Conference Chair by Muuto

The star of our May Breakfast Insights event, this chair hides its new feature all too well. Danish brand Muuto has updated the material that is moulded into the hugging, curved seat designed by Iskos-Berlin. The shell is now made from 99 per cent recycled plastic, drastically reducing the use of virgin material.

HS48 Tarn Armchair by Hitch Mylius

hm48 Tarn Chairs by Hitch Mylius

British furniture manufacturer Hitch Mylius introduced us to their first collaboration with design studio SmithMatthias: the elegant hm48 Tarn collection, including this armchair. We love the beautiful arm detail exposing the frame and the lines of the gently curved upholstery.

Giro Soft by Andreu World

Giro Soft 2 Seater Sofa by Andreu World

In the Andreu World showroom, Swiss-Argentinean designer Alfredo Häberli introduced his new modular sofa range Giro Soft. Featuring gentle curves inspired by the routes of the cycling race Giro d’Italia, the piece stands on an architectural base with wood or metal feet in the shape of a sleigh.

Taba Sofa by Moroso

Taba Sofa by Moroso

At Moroso, we had our second encounter with the latest work of Alfredo Häberli. For the first time, the Italian brand showed its Taba seating collection in the UK. In line with Häberli’s design philosophy, this sofa for lounge areas and office lobbies is defined by an organic outline that offers symmetries and rounded edges.

Utility Shelf by Woud

Utility Shelf by Woud

Spotted at the Woud stand at the Design Fields, the exhibition space sponsored by Clippings, the compact Utility shelf intrigues with gentle curves that create soft arches. Designed by British designer Rachael Heritage, the narrow piece is made from solid oak and MDF with oak veneer.

Egg Chair by Fritz Hansen in new fabrics

Soon on Clippings

At Fritz Hansen, the mood felt especially celebratory as the brand is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year – congratulations! To commemorate this special occasion, the brand created the Anniversary Collection, which includes the Egg chair in a never-before-seen edition upholstered in the Kvadrat wool fabric Vanir. Its pattern has been designed by Raf Simons and will only be available on selected Fritz Hansen products in 2022.
