The Clippings team helped a developer transform a derelict townhouse into an upmarket home.#CreatedwithClippings
Real estate developer Sounion Limited trusted Clippings to find, buy and install premium furniture in the Chelsea townhouse, making the entire procurement process seamless.
Before works started on the house, the building was in quite a state. All the floors had been taken out, with the roof beams visible from the ground floor – making it an inspiring blank canvas. The developer envisioned this doer upper to become a modern, state-of-the-art home with a contemporary design scheme requiring significant architectural invention. Their team decided to keep only the historic facade and introduce modern features like an open kitchen-lounge area and a rooftop terrace.
The furniture scheme needed to reflect this modern layout. The company wanted people to feel an emotional connection when they enter the house. It should be a calming interior with clean lines, influenced by Scandinavian styles. That’s why they asked Clippings to find furniture and lighting pieces with a universal appeal – a brief our team completely fulfilled.
Having no procurement support in-house, Sounion Limited found the Clippings offering of an online sourcing platform powered by a team of industry experts extremely helpful. Through Clippings, they had access to many excellent brands, including Scandinavian and Italian suppliers. In the research phase, the mood board feature of the platform made the life for the developer's team a lot easier. They filled the board with products discovered in the Clippings online catalogue, so they could compare them and ensure that all products matched in style.
Following meetings with Sounion Limited, the Clippings team would also add product suggestions to the board. Additionally, the Clippings took the team on a showroom tour through London, so it could see products in real life before making any final decisions. Once the client was happy with all finish and fabric choices, the Clippings team placed all orders with the suppliers.
Like most Clippings clients, Sounion Limited chose to have all ordered products collected and held in the Clippings warehouse. As the site completion was delayed due to the impact of Covid, this proved to be highly advantageous, as Clippings could store everything until the house was ready.
Clippings managed the delivery and installation with a dedicated project manager in the house. ‘The actual installation went absolutely smoothly and was quite straightforward’, says the client, ‘it was just as efficient as the rest of the experience.’
