Creating inviting entertainment environments

Challenging crazy golf courses, in combination with delicious cocktails, turn out to be an irresistible offering. Spurred on by the success in London, Competitive Socialising, the company behind the Swingers venues, decided to take the winning hospitality concept across the Atlantic.

Multi-awarded interior architecture firm Zachary Pulman Design Studio developed the playful spaces for the Washington DC location and brought in Clippings as procurement partner for the FF&E package.

Edmund Spencer, SVP Real Estate at Swingers, describes the interior as 'a classic Swingers take on an English country golf club, reinvented in a whimsical way. The brief for the Fairway bar was inspired by the outdoors with the trellis and planting.'

Making the creative vision reality

Clippings was brought in after the team of Zachary Pulman had finalised the desired look and feel. ‘At that point, we already knew what pieces we wanted’, explains studio founder Zachary Pulman. 'We tend to create a design-intent package with previously done renders of specific views. Then we source furniture most appropriate.'

'But, as is often the case, sometimes first choices don’t actually make sense in terms of budget, availability or finishes. That’s where we found Clippings incredibly helpful, sourcing alternative suggestions that work nicely, providing a broader reach.'

Delfina Herren, architect at Zachary Pulman Design Studio, used the Clippings catalogue to find product alternatives online, add products and review suggestions from the Clippings team in the projects section of the platform, so the final FF&E specification came together quickly. 'I find the platform really useful.' Delfina says, 'It works similarly to Pinterest. You create your board that works like a mood board and then can add your different options. We then talked them through with the Swingers team until we make our final selection and let the Clippings team know.'

Edmund describes the experience from the client’s perspective: 'Because we tend to have multiple projects with Clippings on the go, it’s really useful to go back into the platform to look at furniture we’ve used for previous projects, or to refer back to something we did before that we might want to use again. I am not a big fan of most technology platforms, but I love Clippings. It is outstandingly good.'

Logistics and installation taken care of

Once the furniture package was signed off, the Clippings project managers placed all orders with the suppliers, including the bespoke furniture for the hospitality areas. All items were collected in the Clippings warehouse and shipped to the US in one container, with Clippings taking care of all customs arrangements.

Clippings also put forward a competent installation partner for the site in Washington D.C., resulting in a snag-free completion of the project.
